One name, a thousand faces
Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, the Thin White Duke – few artists wore as many faces as David Bowie. For this portrait I needed only one name: his own. I wrote david bowie 4,155 times, until the man who kept reinventing himself appeared on the paper.
And there he is, finger to his lips. The most colourful star of his time, asking for a moment of silence – as if he wants you to lean in and listen to what the words are whispering. Up close it is all handwriting; from a distance, a quiet nod from the Starman himself.
